Tactile Art Books

Tactile Art Books

Touch Graphics, Inc. creates tactile graphic books that are of unparalleled quality. These books, made to order for art museums and other organizations, include raised-line and textured representations of paintings, photographs and other visual materials. The tactile images employ a variety of effects to promote good comprehension; depth effects are achieved by varying the height of relief of raised lines, and texture fills help improve awareness of figure-ground distinctions. The pictures are also color-printed, so that a partially-sighted viewer can use a combination of vision and touch sense while reading the book. Books include verbal descriptions that explain the content of the images and orient the reader for efficient tactile examination; this text appears in both Braille and large print.
