Touch Graphics, in collaboration with Baruch College Computer Center for Visually Impaired People, was awarded a grant from the US Department of Education Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education (FIPSE) to create an interactive workbook for college-level statistics.
1) Students place tactile graphic sheet showing graphs, diagrams and other imagery on the TTT, then listen as the narrator explains concepts and techniques for manipulating and making sense of data.
2) As with all applications for the TTT, students are able to press features of the graphics to hear explanatory audio tags, to help them grasp the ideas being illustrated.
3) The workbook includes many interactive experiences, in which the student is asked to demonstrate mastery of the material through chapter-end quizzes, or to add data points to a graphic to find out how new information affects calculations.
