Overbrook School for the Blind Talking Campus Map

Now Open! This interactive campus map, located in the school's newly refurbished lobby, presents a raised-line and textured diagram that students, staff, and visitors can use to get oriented to their immediate surroundings. When users touch any building, athletic field, street or other features shown on the map, they will hear its name. If they press again on the same location, they will hear a description, and another press causes the system to speak detailed directions to that place on campus. OSB Talking Tactile Campus Model is the outcome a long collaboration with school superintendent Jackie Brennan, her staff, and many students over the years who have participated in user studies that helped Touch Graphics’ designers refine their interactive, universally-accessible maps.
